4 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

This 4-day tour from Marrakech will show you the southern desert of Morocco. It goes to the Merzouga Desert. It is beautiful. We will drive along the Atlas Mountains. We’ll enjoy the views and the old buildings by the small rivers. We will explore the UNESCO World Heritage site, Ait Ben Haddou. Then we will pass through Ouarzazate and the Roses Valley. We’ll reach Dades Valley, where we will spend our first night.

Next, we will head to the Merzouga Desert. There, you will ride a camel in Erg Chebbi and sleep under the stars at a desert camp. We will cross the Valley of the Roses and the road of 1,001 Kasbahs.

Enjoy the stunning beauty of Morocco’s diverse landscapes. Finally, admire the splendid Ouarzazate Studios. Then, we’ll return to Marrakech, the red city. This will end our 4-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert. It offers a taste of Berber culture, stunning nature, and rich history.

Day 01 :

Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Boumalne Dades

Your energizing 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga forsake visit will begin early. We are going to pick you up at around 08h00 AM from your lodging or Riad. Our first goal is Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. We'll drive through the Tizi Ntichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. We'll pass adobe Berber towns on the way. We will make a few stops. You'll need to take some photos, stretch your legs, and have a cup of coffee.

After a quick lunch in Ouarzazate, we went to Skoura. It's one of the biggest desert springs in Morocco's Sahara. It has a restored Kasbah, Amridil, which is worth a visit. Visit the nearby Kasbah. It has details on the Sahara's design and old irrigation methods for the desert gardens.

From there, drive to Boumalne Dades through the Valley of the Roses. It is famous for its Damascus Rose manors and local ladies' cooperatives. They refine rose water and make some local rose-based remedies. Sometime before we reached our hold-up, we drove to the best of the Dades Canyons for a quick visit. Dinner and overnight at your Dades Valley hold-up.

Day 02 :

Boumalne Dades → Tinghir → Merzouga

After an exquisite breakfast, we begin our journey. We will drive along the 1001 Kasbahs road to the oasis village of Tinghir. There, you can enjoy the ambiance of the Todgha River. You may want to walk its banks. Meditate on the antique yet unique lifestyle of the Berber villages and kasbahs. Soon, you will face the massive cliffs of the Todgha Gorges. After a prosperous morning, we head to the Gorges, where we will have lunch.

In the afternoon, we journey on to Erfoud. People know it for its date market and fossilized marble. The next stop will be to visit the holy town of Rissani. It is the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, which still rules Morocco. From here, we continue to Merzouga. Get ready for an exciting camel ride! Sit back and enjoy the color-changing dunes and a thrilling sunset.

Spin back to your Sahara Desert camp. A magical Moroccan dinner under the stars and by the campfire awaits you.

Relax and enjoy your dinner. Local nomads will play their drums. Their music will entertain your soul. After this captivating scenery, make yourself comfortable for a glamorous overnight stay.

Day 03 :

Merzouga → Nkob → Agdz → Ouarzazate

After an early wake-up to watch the sunrise and a camel (or jeep) ride back to Merzouga, meet your driver. Then, get ready for a day of sightseeing and adventure. Drive across the volcanic massifs of the Anti-Atlas Mountains to Nkob. This is where the drive along the legendary Draa Valley will begin. Drive past various mud-brick villages scattered along the valley. In the mid-afternoon, we will arrive at Agdz. It means "resting place" in Berber. It was once a stop for camel caravans crossing the Sahara from Marrakech to Timbuktu. From here, drive to Ouarzazate and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 04 :

Ouarzazate → Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou → Telouet → Marrakech

After breakfast, we will drive west. We seek the charm of Berber villages in the kasbah, Ait Ben Haddou, a popular Moroccan site. It is a prime example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It has also produced several Hollywood epics, like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

Enjoy a guided walk to the village. Next, we will go to Telouet. It's a kasbah on the old caravan route through the High Atlas Mountains from Marrakech to the Sahara. The former warlord “Elgloui” built it in the late 19th century. From here, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. End of services.
